Zuiderdam cabin 4131 – Ambulatory Accessible Verandah – March 2025
This review is written from the perspective of someone who does NOT use a wheelchair or walker. I was given this cabin by HAL Guest Accessibility because I wanted a cabin with a shower (not a tub/shower) due to recent surgery.
This is a large balcony cabin with a large, angled balcony. The balcony has two chairs and a table. The view forward is over the lifeboats. The floor slopes going up to the balcony door which, for people who walk, is a tripping problem. (The carpet does not change color to warn you of this). There is no couch, only a small table and two chairs; one of which is at the desk. The desk is large. There are only two closets. One closet has a rod down low and another one up high. The second closet has the safe down low with shelves or you could use the high rod if you are tall. The bathroom is very large but has little storage. The vanity is small and there is no shelf underneath for storage. There are some small shelves on the wall but not a medicine cabinet. The shower is huge and is a roll-in shower. There are grates on the floor, so the water drains out before reaching the rest of the bathroom. There is also a grate in front of the door that I covered with a towel at night as it is painful on bare feet when entering the bathroom. The amount of storage was a problem even for someone who is a solo traveler and travels light. I asked for and was given a different cabin after spending 3 nights.
