Just returned from an Alaska cruise and stayed in cabin #4129. We loved this room because of the larger verandah. Other family members were in a room 4 doors down. They came to our verandah often, as there was plenty of room for 5 of us. In particular, when the Margerie Glacier was calving a lot, we had perfect views and got perfect pictures from there with no one else around. The views throughout the trip were wonderful from the verandah, as you walk out to the railing to see a full view, and the view to the front is completely open. This cruise was a loop from and to Seattle, and our room looked out over the port at each stop. So nice to sit and watch the goings-on while in the room.
There are two chairs out there that are upright, but they have a separate ottoman that can be used for extra seating or relaxing with your feet up. There is also a chair at the desk that we brought outside to use.
We did not witness any lifeboat drills as others mentioned, but we had shore excursions in each port. Nor did we get water dumped on us. We were cautious when we walked outside just in case, and set our chairs up either near the door or all the way out near the railing. Close to the door is an area that is covered the same amount as other cabins.
The bed is two singles joined together, and there is a small sofa and table close to the veranda doors. The room and bathroom were extremely clean. We loved having both a bathtub and shower. There is a LOT of storage in the room, with multiple closets and drawers. There were several wooden hangers, and you can request more if needed. We felt that there was room for everything that we brought on board. Our 2 very large suitcases fit easily under the bed, along with some other carry-on totes. The safe was also large.
We did not hear ANY noise at all the whole week. The stewards were excellent. They were very stealth all week, and still brought us anything we needed promptly. Room service for a very early breakfast one day was on time and excellent. The plates were not only covered, but they were on a very hot metal plate, so the food was served warm.
Laundry service was EXCELLENT. This is the best bargain on the boat. It costs $50 for ALL laundry ALL week. Laundry was delivered back in our room the SAME DAY, folded and pressed beautifully. Such a treat to come home to less laundry, especially from Alaska where we had extra jackets, jeans, and other warm clothing.
One thing lacking (not a product of the room) was the texting service using the Navigator app. We could text, which was WONDERFUL, but we never got the notifications (which we had turned on), so we had to constantly check the app. We would sometimes get notifications of a text 8 hours after the text was there. Also, sometimes the texts were delayed for a bit.
One IMPORTANT thing to know… When we arrived in Seattle, someone came onto our verandah about a half hour after docking with a huge hose to clean it off. He had apparently been on all of the balconies next to us already. Thank goodness we were already dressed!
Another thing to note if you have family booking with you. Our daughter’s family booked room 4121, 4 doors down. They paid the price of an inside cabin, but the room has a window the size of a sliding glass door. It looks out between two of the lifeboats, but it you can see out. It made the room feel larger, and it had a little view. Easy to check the weather, etc. The only problem with that room is that they had to use the sofa bed, and it completely blocks the area between the bed and the bathroom when it’s opened. There’s not even room to pass your legs between the end of the opened bed and the desk. You have to climb over it.
Overall, this was a wonderful trip and we loved cabin #4129.
